Imagine if we could take previously known and new optimizations of CPUs allocation for HPC and had them available in the Kubernetes environment? The current algorithms within the Kubelet are specific, hard to configure, and limited. For instance, if you choose guaranteed QoS with Single NUMA policy for your pod, all underlying cores become statically pinned within stock Kubernetes. You cannot mix guaranteed QoS and best-effort/burstable QoS for a given NUMA zone which can lead to performance loss. Our pluggable control plane mechanism allows quick implementation of new algorithms for cores affinity within specific jobs. Fortunately, we an easy-to-deploy, solution. This talk will introduce our open-source CPU Control Plane and discuss how it can handle AI/ML/HPC and microservices workloads. It can statically pin some cores and allow others to float. It can link with affinity to namespaces for performance tweaking. It also adds new low-latency auto tunable power capabilities.
